1. ABC: No. 7 LSU at No. 8 Ole Miss 6:30 pm CT
Not only is this the biggest college football game of the day rankings wise, you will see why this matchup is an example of how special the sport of College Football is. LSU Head Coach, Lane Kiffin makes his first trip back to Oxford since ditching the team before they began a Playoff run to the semifinal round. Ironically, this is also his new team in LSU’s biggest test this season so far. Vaught-Hemingway is expected to be the definition of hostile this weekend with the matchup AND the return of coach Kiffin. In fact there have been multiple reports of an increased police presence all around Oxford, Mississippi. Even if this one does become a one sided blowout on the field, there’s too many storylines surrounding this one that it is must watch TV.
2. NBC: Michigan State at No. 3 Notre Dame 6:30 pm CT
On paper, this one says Notre Dame blowout. But it is a sneaky game that could be an upset alert. This will be Michigan State’s first test with new head coach in Pat Fitzgerald. So the Spartans will get an early opportunity to see where they are. Notre Dame did struggle for a half vs the Wisconsin Badgers back in Lambeau Field so we will see how they look here.
3: CBS: No. 12 USC at Rutgers 3:30 pm CT
As interesting as this one still is, Its fair to say it lost its luster. The concept of Lincoln Riley’s high powered USC team making a cross country trip to Piscataway, New Jersey to play a conference foe in Rutgers sounds like a trap. The problem is Rutgers is 0-2 and even with a close loss at Boston College last week, they got destroyed 37-21 at home to lowly UMass to open the season. It is College football and weirder things have happened, but I don’t see Rutgers winning this one.
4. FOX: Kent State at No. 6 Ohio State 11 am CT
FOX’s Big Noon game is easily the worst one. Technically their pregame crew isn’t going to this one as they will be at London for Arizona State vs Kansas which will be on FS1. But this one is only for them to get their first game at Ohio State this year. Kent State is 1-1 and lost 57-0 to South Carolina, Ohio State is a much better team than Kent State. Watch any other game in the noon slate of CFB games.
