(Before I get this started I meant to do a post on my predictions for this years MLB Postseason but due to other things I had to do with college I couldn’t so im writing this instead.)

The 2026 MLB Postseason is officially off and running and all four wildcard series are now history. I want to just give my thoughts on what I saw in all four series over the week.

NL Wildcard

No. 3 Atlanta Braves over No. 6 Philadelphia Phillies in 3

Most definitely the best series of the round, the Braves finally got revenge on their NL East rivals and eliminated the Phillies in the third matchup between the two since 2022. Atlanta after starting out as the best team in baseball and hitting a wall recently looked more complete than the Phillies. Philadelphia who nearly missed the playoffs as they backed into it in the middle of a collapse looked like a flawed team. Which all season, even with hitters like Kyle Schwarber, Brice Harper and their pitching staff, they were a very flawed team.

No. 4 San Diego Padres over No. 5 Chicago Cubs in 2

Not really shocked at this one, Cubs were just too inconsistent. Sure they have the MVP favorite in Pete Crow-Armstrong, but the Cubbies starting rotation was inconsistent and their bullpen was not good. Plus the rest of their offense also was very hit or miss, while San Diego’s offense you know what you will get and their pitching staff is much more locked down. That is what we saw in game one when the Padres crushed the Cubs 8-0 and closed out a closer 4-1 game 2 win.

AL Wildcard

No. 6 Chicago White Sox sweeps No. 3 Houston Astros

I’m surprised and not surprised at this. I’m not surprised Houston who only was in it cause of a historically bad AL West, had a fast elimination as they looked like an 81-81 team this series. Where I am surprised is Chicago looked so good on the road. I know Houston’s pitching staff is hurt but man oh man, it wasn’t just their pitching. EVERYTHING was bad, the Sox dominated this series. Every time I looked at the score, Chicago had a multi run lead. I know I said I was surprised how good Chicago looked especially with how the season series went vs Houston along with their road struggles, but they looked a young team with no pressure.

No. 4 New York Yankees sweep No. 5 Boston Red Sox

Just like last year the Yankees get the best of the Red Sox in the 5/4 ALWC series. But this year, New York, without Aaron Judge too absolutely demolished the Red Sox. In the two games combined, the Yankees outscored the Sox 18-2 (9-0 game 1 and 9-2 game 2). The Sox were even held scoreless until the sixth in game 2. It was all Yankees this series.
