1. Florida Gators
The No. 21 Gators had their biggest game of the season vs No. 4 Ole Miss. What I thought was a potential trap for the Rebels who were coming off an emotional win vs Lane Kiffin and LSU definitely was true. The Gators used the home field advantage to dominate Ole Miss 52-28 and new Gator HC in Jon Sumrall (formerly with Tulane) has his first signature win of the season in just his 4th game. The Gators with the win jumped up to No. 8 in the rankings and more importantly is 4-0.
2. Wisconsin Badgers
Of course I got to give love to my Badgers. With the 24-20 win over No. 13 Penn State, so many streaks were broken. It was Wisconsin’s first road win since mid October in 2024, it was their first ranked win on the road since 2021 vs No. 25 Purdue, it was Wisconsin’s first win vs Penn State since 2011 and their first in Happy Valley since 2003. Wisconsin was down 17-0 in the 2nd quarter during this game too. Also important to note that Wisconsin head coach Luke Fickell is now 3-2 in his last 5 games vs top 25 with this one arguably being the best win. It was a great night to be a badger.
3. Wake Forest
How about these Demon Deacons, the ACC is a very wide open conference but Wake Forest went on the road and upset No. 16 Louisville with a score of 30-27. These Deacons also got their second straight win on the road dating back to last seasons win at No. 14 Virginia.
4. Iowa Hawkeyes
A big win in the Big house for Iowa, the No. 17 Hawkeyes won 20-19 on a last second touchdown to beat No. 18 Michigan. Perhaps its poetic justice for Michigan after beating Western Michigan in a controversial last second win. But this is one of the biggest Big Ten road wins I can remember for Iowa and head coach Kirk Ferentz in a while.
5. Texas Longhorns
The No. 1 Texas Longhorns got another quality win by beating No. 14 Tennessee 20-17 at Neyland Stadium. With the eyes of the President of the United States and his HOF Uncle in Peyton Manning on him along with a Checkerboard themed Tennessee fanbase trying to make his life crazy. QB Arch Manning went 14/19 for 201 yards. That might look better on paper but it still was enough for a big win and that’s what matters for the Texas QB.
